Navigating Finances While Traveling: Helpful Tips

Traveling is an exciting adventure that should be stress-free. As you plan your next trip, make sure to utilize these valuable tips to safeguard your Teachers financial accounts.

 

Notify Teachers of Travel Plans

To ensure uninterrupted access to your Teachers Debit or Credit Card while traveling, we kindly request that you notify us of your travel plans at least one week in advance. This will minimize any potential disruptions to your financial transactions.

There are several ways you can notify us of your upcoming travel plans:

Chat with Us — It’s the Easiest and Fastest Method

Log into Online Banking during our regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. ET, and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. ET, and click the Chat Now option on the menu bar. Enter your name and the subject in the chat and a representative will chat with you to ensure we properly note your account of your upcoming travel plans.

Contact Teachers Through Mobile Banking

For Debit Cards Only:

  1. Log into the Mobile Banking App and click on the More button in the lower right corner.
  2. Scroll down to the Help & Support section and click on the Email Us link.
  3. Click on the New Message option to compose a message
  4. In the Subject field, enter Travel Notification and include the dates and locations of travel (city, state, country). The more detail the better.
  5. Once completed, click the Submit button. Your account will be updated within 1-2 business days

For Credit Cards Only:

  1. Log into the Mobile Banking App and click on the credit card listed on the Accounts page.
  2. Select the menu on the upper left side of the page and click Manage Card
  3. Select Travel Plan, then Add Travel Plan.
  4. Input the dates and locations of travel (city, state, country) and click Save.
  5. Your account will be updated immediately.

Contact Teachers Through Online Banking

For Debit Cards Only:

  1. Log into Online Banking and click on the Support link on the upper right side of the page.
  2. Click the Secure Support link in the window.
  3. Click the New Message link. 
  4. In the Subject field, enter Travel Notification, and include the dates and locations of travel (city, state, country). The more detail the better.
  5. Once completed, click the Submit button. Your account will be updated within 1-2 business days.

For Credit Cards Only:

  1. Log into Online Banking and click on the credit card listed on the Accounts page.
  2. Select the menu on the upper left side of the page and click Manage Card
  3. Select Travel Plan, then Add Travel Plan.
  4. Input the dates and locations of travel (city, state, country) and click Save.
  5. Your account will be updated immediately.

Call Us

  • To notify us by phone that you will be using your Teachers Credit Card while traveling,
    please call 1-855-462-5880.
  • To notify us by phone that you will be using your Teachers Debit Card while traveling,
    please call 1-800-341-4333.

Teachers representatives are available during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

 

Monitor Your Accounts Regularly

To help ensure the security of your debit card, through Teachers Online Banking you can set up alerts via text, email, or phone to monitor account activity. 

  1. Log into Online Banking.
  2. Select Additional Services.
  3. Click the eStatements and Alerts option.
  4. On the next screen, click on Alerts and follow the prompts to set the Alerts you would like to have added.

Use Online Banking Safely

If you are accessing your Teachers accounts online while traveling, make sure you are using secure and trusted networks. Avoid using public Wi-Fi networks for sensitive transactions, as they may not be secure.
