TFCU First Place Winner of Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award

Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU), one of the country’s largest credit unions, has been selected as the First Place winner of the New York Credit Union Association’s 2017 Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award in the over $1 billion asset category. TFCU was honored during the New York Credit Union Association’s annual convention held June 1- 4, at Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, NY. Accepting the award was TFCU President and CEO Robert G. Allen.
“Receiving the First Place Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award highlights TFCU’s long-time commitment to teaching personal finance concepts to students. We hope to instill responsible money management skills that will translate to financial security in the future for these young people,” said Robert G. Allen, TFCU President and CEO.
The Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award, named after credit union pioneer Alphonse Desjardins, who was instrumental in forming the Canadian and U.S. credit union movements and pioneered youth savings clubs and in-school banks.Credit Union National Association (CUNA) created the Desjardins program to recognize leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of financial literacy for all ages.
