Brittany’s Baskets of Hope, a Long Island–based not-for-profit, is dedicated to bringing information to families
Hauppauge, NY - Teachers Federal Credit Union, one of the country’s largest credit unions, and Team TFCU, comprised of employees dedicated to serving the community, recently donated $1,500 to Brittany’s Baskets of Hope, Inc.
Brittany’s Baskets of Hope, a South Huntington, Long Island–based not-for-profit, is dedicated to bringing information, support, guidance and hope to families that have newly welcomed a baby diagnosed with Down syndrome into their lives.
Brittany’s Baskets are made up and delivered to new parents to celebrate the arrival of babies with Down syndrome. The baskets are filled with information for the parents and gifts of love and joy for the babies and their siblings. “It is heartwarming to support the mission of this caring organization that was founded by Brittany A. Schiavone in 2014,” said Jennifer Gunn, TFCU Marketing Manager and TFCU Team Member.
At age 27, Brittany Schiavone, a musical theater fan and entrepreneur, launched Brittany’s Baskets of Hope. She was inspired by a video on YouTube with a similar idea. Within a year, she was sending baskets to families with babies with Down syndrome all over the country – a cause important to Schiavone, because she has Down syndrome herself.
“Our donation to Brittany’s Baskets of Hope is a reflection of TFCU’s support for new parents with
useful resources, as well as hope for the future. The baskets are filled with gift items, toys, clothes and more; they truly bring joy into the homes of families who appreciate the generosity and thoughtfulness the baskets represent. It is a meaningful way for TFCU to support those who live in communities across Long Island where we serve our members,” said Robert G. Allen, CEO/President of TFCU.
