Making The Educated Choice has never been easier. We have provided this Switch Kit to give you a step-by-step guide that will allow you to close your old accounts at other financial institutions and switch over to Teachers easily and conveniently.

When you're ready and need assistance, we are here for you:

  • Stop by any one of our branches and speak to a Member Service Representative, OR
  • Speak to a Call Center Representative at (631) 698-7000, extension 6780.

Step 1. Open your Teachers Federal Credit Union Checking Account.

This can be done at any one of our branches or online. When you open your account, don't forget to make it perfect by enrolling in the following services:

Step 2. Stop using your old account.

Stop writing checks and making debit purchases from your old account and start using your Teachers Checking Account.

Step 3. Switch any automatic payments and direct deposits over to Teachers.

Automatic payments may include credit card, utility, and insurance companies. Direct Deposits may include your employer, Social Security Administration, retirement plan, or any other income sources. You will need to fill out one form for each company and financial institution. See the Switch Kit form letters

Step 4. Close your old accounts at your previous financial institution.

Make sure your last check and debit purchases have cleared, all automatic withdrawals and direct deposits have been switched over to your new Teachers account, then close your old account(s). Fill out Switch Kit form letters to instruct your old financial institution to close your account(s) and send a check with the remaining balance.
