Springtime at the Long Island Museum
Long Island in Bloom will be on display during Long Island's blooming season, a time when our thoughts turn to flowers and gardening. Many of the gifted artists who have lived and worked on Long Island are known for their floral works. Happy Tails are Wagging!
TFCU employees hosted a pet supply drive in support of the Little Shelter Animal Adoption Center in Huntington and Bide-A-Wee in Westhampton. In addition to collecting a couple hundred pounds of pet supplies, we raised $871.40. Both organizations each received a check for $435.70.

Shamrocking for the Muscular Dystrophy Association
Team TFCU is sponsoring a shamrock sale, with proceeds being donated to the MDA. Muscular Dystrophy Association is a nonprofit organization that helps fight 43 different neuromuscular diseases. They help families by providing them with clinics, research to find a cure, durable medical equipment repairs, flu shots, resources and summer camp for youngsters ages 6-17. Stop by any branch today, and help Team TFCU reach its goal of $10,000.

January Coat Drive for the Benefit of Big Brothers, Big Sisters
Teachers Federal Credit Union is hosting a January 2012 Winter Coat and Accessories Drive for the entire month of January. You can bring new and gently used coats, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves to any of the credit union's 23 branches. The items collected will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, a nonprofit organization committed to distributing the items to adults and children who are in need of warm outdoor clothing. To encourage people to donate their used winter outerwear, radio's WALK 97.5 will be at TFCU's Hauppauge headquarters on January 18. There will be music and raffle prizes from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Team TFCU spreading Holiday Cheer throughout the Community this Holiday Season
Once again, TFCU employees have come together to help our neighbors in need.
This year alone, employees adopted 130 angels from Salvation Army's Angel Tree program. This program provides underprivileged children with holiday gifts such as clothing, special-needs gifts and other wished-for items such as toys. They also created over 30 Holiday Food Baskets which were donated to local schools, Long Island Cares, and Options for Community Living to distribute to families in need.
In the spirit of giving, these two programs are embraced by our employees every year. In the last several years, TEAM TFCU has given holiday presents to over 700 children and donated nearly 100 holiday food baskets to underprivileged families.

Money Management Seminar with Assemblyman Dean Murray
On November 10th, Assemblyman Dean Murray and Farmingville Branch Manager Paul Cuddy will be presenting a Money Management Seminar at the Patchogue Medford Library from 7pm-9pm. The seminar will teach people how to take control of personal spending and build a basic budget. This event will talk about how to create a spending plan, explain how to set realistic goals and highlight several ways to track spending.

Eastern Suffolk BOCES - Milliken Tech presents a Barbering EXPO
On November 7th, Eastern Suffolk BOCES is partnering with business and industry leaders to present the BARBER EXPO. This day long event will include master classes which begin at 8:15 and end at 5 pm. Students, teachers & professionals can come together to learn the latest and newest trends in Barbering. Emiliano/Paul Mitchell will be showcasing their new projects and will also be offering Paul Mitchell Academy Classes. TFCU will be on hand to offer advice on opening accounts.

Annual Dowling College Alumni Regatta
On Saturday, November 5th, Dowling College is holding their annual regatta where they invite alumni, students, and neighbors to join Dowling staff, faculty, and administration, and everyone's families, to enjoy a Blue & Gold day on the banks of the Connetquot River. TFCU staff will be on hand and attendees will take a spin on our prize wheel.

Seatuck Environmental Center's Owl Prowl 5K
TFCU is proudly sponsoring the 2011 Seatuck Owl Prowl on Sunday, October 30 at 9am. The event is intended to get Long Islanders (especially children!) outside to experience, understand and appreciate the natural world. TFCU is sponsoring the children's run which begins at 10am. TFCU staff will be there to give goodie bags to the children who are participating.

Saturday, September 24th, was a perfect day for an Anniversary Celebration. Radio station, WBAB, was on hand to spin some tunes. The first 100 kids received a free TFCU owl, and the TFCU Prize Wheel added to the fun!

TEAM TFCU's "Jeans Day" was held in support of the American Heart Association's Go Red campaign. Employees were allowed to wear their jeans and a red shirt in support of this cause. Dix Hills Skate Swap
TFCU sponsored the Town of Huntington's Skate Swap. Over one hundred skaters came out to swap helmets, padding, jerseys and skates. Skating equipment is expensive, so this was the perfect forum for trading "old" equipment for "new."

Employees were invited to join their colleagues for dinner, as well as see several co-workers model the latest business attire. TFCU supports the Long Island Museum's Centuries of Progress: America's World's Fairs, 1853-1982 exhibit. The Long Island Museum is a place to rediscover the richness of America's cultural heritage. In 2006, the Long Island Museum joined a small group of museums and cultural institutions nationwide in becoming a Smithsonian Affiliate.

Muscular Dystrophy Association
Team TFCU sponsored a shamrock sale, with proceeds being donated to the MDA.
Muscular Dystrophies is a group of more than 30 genetic diseases characterized by progressive weakness and degeneration of the skeletal muscles that control movement. Currently, there is no specific treatment to stop or reverse any form of MD. Of every dollar donated, 77¢ goes directly to research, services and education; the rest to fundraising and administration.

Power to Learn — National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) Event
TFCU teamed up with Cablevision's Power to Learn program to sponsor a one-day Financial Education Training seminar. The NEFE seminar was open to those who provide financial literacy education for high school students. The program was the largest of its kind ever offered in Suffolk County.
